A Kinder Vocabulary
Words that build a child up instead of putting them in a box.
Words shape how others see our children β and how our children see themselves. Try these gentle swaps:
- "My child has autism" β just as good: "My child is autistic." Either is fine. Ask families which they prefer.
- "He's slow." β "He learns in his own beautiful way."
- "She's bad." β "She's overwhelmed."
You don't need clinical words to be a great parent. You need warm ones.
