A Kinder Vocabulary

Words shape how others see our children — and how our children see themselves. Try these gentle swaps:

• "My child has autism" → just as good: "My child is autistic." Either is fine. Ask families which they prefer.
• "He's slow." → "He learns in his own beautiful way."
• "She's bad." → "She's overwhelmed."

You don't need clinical words to be a great parent. You need warm ones.
